An Ultrasonic sensors measure distances based on transmitting and receiving ultrasonic signals. This video explains the detailed working of an ultrasonic sensor, HC-SR04. It also explains the use of trigger and echo pins on the sensor.
Ultrasonic sensors are used extensively in the field of robotics, defense, medical, navigation and many industries etc. These ultrasonic waves can penetrate through water and hence they can be used to calculate the depth of wells. It works in any environment.
