Using a Doing Business As Name is a great way to brand your business, but be sure you've checked all the regulatory boxes first!

If you want to transact business under any name other than the one that is on your company's Articles of Incorporation/Formation, you must file a Doing Business As (or Fictitious Name) Registration ("DBA") with the Secretary of State. Some states may call it an Assumed Name or Trade Name.

You will have to file the DBA in your domicile state, resident state (if different than state where incorporated) as well as all non-resident states where you are conducting business. You will also need to register the DBA with the Department of Insurance.
