A project is about delivering products (output) that will have a function as part of the objective that deliver the outcome from which we realize the Benefit
We cannot plan the project if we do not know the products:
What, When, Who, Where, Why and hoW
So we break them down in smaller products
which then allows us to
Turn them into Requirements - User Story Format, which explains why they are needed
Then Prioritize - to understand "how much" (to what degree) each is needed for the project benefit
and
Then we can Estimate
See the dependencies - Internal and External
So understand the real Scope (see another video)
and then
use to manage the value with such techniques as
Function Analysis System Technique and Value Trees, which lead to the Value Profile, Value Index and most of all the Value for Money
And so understand far more about the project
