Tackling Illicit Trade in Europe
The 2023 KPMG report on illicit cigarette consumption in the European Union shows that counterfeit cigarettes remain one of the main sources of illicit consumption in the region.
The annual study has also estimated that the number of illicit cigarettes consumed across 38 European countries in 2023 reached 52.2 billion, the highest level recorded in this study.
