“There Will Be Some Kind Of Remorse” | Paula Vennells Hands Cver 50 New Documents In Scandal Inquiry
In a dramatic twist, the Post Office scandal inquiry has announced an "urgent" review of new documents from former chief executive Paula Vennells. Her legal team recently unearthed 50 documents that hadn't been shared before, just ahead of her upcoming appearance.
Lead counsel Jason Beer KC confirmed the document arrived at 11:17 PM and more documents from Ms. Vennells are expected which will be reviewed urgently."
Beer previously stressed the importance of prompt document submissions and warned witnesses he "will not hesitate" to recall them if necessary.
The development came as Alisdair Cameron, the Post Office's ex-chief financial officer, faced grilling on his knowledge of the scandal. He started his testimony with an apology to the affected sub-postmasters.
