So normally we scarify and aerate, seed etc. during spring and Autumn (fall), however what you may not be sure is when to STOP doing these things.

As long as the weather is acting normal, I would stop mid May.. This then gives 6 weeks after, so taking you up to end of June, for it to recover and then be ready for coming into Summer..

HOWEVER, this year, it's been unusually cooler, so I personally extended the season a few extra weeks, so I could complete a few extra jobs that had been asking and waiting.. The only caveat I gave the customers, is that extra watering would be needed, in case a last minute heatwave hits..

So for 2024, I extended my renovation season to the first week in June for anything with seeds..

I also allowed up to mid June in 2024 for scarifying and aerating, but only if the customer agreed to water REALLY well for a few weeks to help speed up recovery.

So, if you were still wondering, remember that you CAN scarify and aerate as long as it is growing, BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT.... the closer we are into sweaty hot weather, the MORE you will need to water daily for a few weeks.. so normally Mid May is my cut off, but you take the risk if you want to go and do it later into Summer..

I would personally avoid all of JULY AUGUST AND MOST OF SEPTEMBER no matter what..

Have an amazing day!
