DIY Tesla Battery pack swap in backyard. 2013 Tesla Model S gets battery pack. With basic hand tools
Our 200K mile 2013 Tesla Model S 85 had a fault code for contactors limiting power by about 20% for a while now. The contactors are inside the battery pack. Instead of opening two battery packs and swapping the contactors, I decided to swap the whole Tesla Battery Pack. The donor car is the 2013 Tesla Model S 85 we bought at a Copart Auction last year.
It has only 128k miles on it. So our Model S will have way less miles on the pack after this. The 200k mile pack will be taken apart and the 16 Tesla Battery Modules will be used as energy storage with our solar system. More on that in future videos.
