DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan spoke at the 13th General Assembly of the Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK). Bakırhan outlined two conditions for a new peace process. Addressing AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, Bakırhan criticized the appointment of a trustee to the Esenyurt Municipality.
Tuncer Bakırhan said, "The language used so far must be abandoned. Because we are once again facing a language that is threatening and patronizing. Above all, this language, which poisons society, must be replaced by a more political, mature, and respectful language adopted by members of the government. Otherwise, these discussions may have to end without a process."
