Connect with your Feminine Energy. AWAKENING THE GODDESS.
One of the most beautiful yoga poses is Utkata Konasana, or Goddess Pose. Here's a little about it.
In Sanskrit, Utkata Konasana comes from three words: Utkata, meaning powerful; Kona, meaning angle; and asana, meaning posture. It could be literally translated as "The pose of the powerful angle," better known as the Goddess Pose.
What does it represent or symbolize?
Elegance, presence, and confidence that connect with feminine energy and our cyclical nature: the endless cycle of life, death, and rebirth. It also symbolizes fertility.
What benefits do I get from practicing it?
On an energetic level, the Goddess Pose grounds us to the Earth through the root chakra (Muladhara), stimulating the flow of vital energy throughout the subsequent energy centers. From this grounding and security in the Earth, we open ourselves fully to the joy and power of creation of the second chakra (Svadhisthana). Next, we ignite the fire and action of Manipura, and subsequently, we do so with a wide-open heart (Anahata), feeling connected to the power of love as the driving force and path of life. Utkata Konasana (Goddess Pose) provides us with strength to empower ourselves internally and externally, awakening our inner goddess.
On a physical level, this pose requires balance, strength, and a deep stretch of the lower body. It tones the glutes, thighs, legs, and ankles. The arm position can vary, but it is usually practiced with arms outstretched, allowing the ribcage to expand and thus strengthening the arms and upper back. It also relaxes the pelvic floor muscles and increases circulation in the pelvis, widening and expanding it, which is why it's an excellent pose for women, especially during menstruation and pregnancy.
Enjoy your practice and connect with your inner goddess.
Namaste
