MMD School is a YouTube tutorial series by LittleShadowGirl Productions that shows the world how to make awesome things in MMD 9.31, such as animations, art, and 3D models.
It's also a YouTube playlist:    • MMD School (MikuMikuDance Tutorials)
Transcript:
Animating in MMD is AWESOME. You don’t have to add frames, you just make it do something and just it DOES IT! AHHH!

Step 1: Moving your model
So the first thing to know is that are are 3 lines, or 3 ways, you can move a model. So if you are doing coordinate planes in math you might know about x and y. X is a variable for width, and Y is a variable for height. In MMD, you have those variables, but Y rotates bones, and there’s also z. Sometimes the X, Y, and Z variables do slightly different things for different parts of the model. Also, all these segments are called bones. They’re what you move when you pose or animate.

Step 2: Adding(and deleting) Edge Lines
So, I finished my pose of Miku laughing. As you can see, Miku has this border around her that is called an edge line. It can be annoying, so I’m deleting it.
Go into view, select “Edge Line Thickness,” and you’ll get this window thingy. Then you can adjust it to whatever thickness is best for your creation.
Sometimes, if your MMD has no effect, edge lines are good for seeing clearly while posing models. No-one has to use them if they don’t want to.
Step 3: Saving Pose Data
When you spend a lot of time on a pose or animation, seeing it deleted is very unsatisfying. But you don’t have to live like that. You can save your work!

In order to save pose data, make sure you’re in model, not camera. Then select all, go into file and hit save.
And we are done! Thanks for watching everyone!
That’s it for this week in MMD School. Goodbye, darlings!
