Special forces for Soviet collective farms
On March 2, 1954, the Plenum of the Central Committee of the CPSU issued a resolution "On the Development of Virgin and Fallow Lands." In connection with this, the official practice of involving the army in the harvest in the Soviet republics began in 1956. Prior to this decision, military personnel had been recruited to work on collective and state farms on a case-by-case basis.
