Adding shims to your Floyd Rose saddles is, without a doubt, the BEST, easiest, and most affordable mod you can make to a Floyd Rose-equipped guitar. It’s always struck me as odd that companies like Jackson go to the trouble of crafting a 12"-16" compound radius fretboard, only to pair it with a bridge locked at a 12" radius. Don’t get me wrong - we ALL love a good Floyd Rose! But it’s a bit like putting the wrong tires on a race car.
By adding these tiny pieces of metal under your saddles, you can fix that mismatch, creating a better-playing instrument with consistent action, just as it was intended to be.
