Billie Holiday in "A New World A-Coming" (1944)
REMASTERED: This is a redo of a video I made over 10 years ago about Billie Holiday being on the program "New World A-Coming" based on the book by noted Black journalist Roi Ottley. The original video I made had the wrong audio of Lady Day singing "Fine and Mellow" so I decided to not only correct my mistake but present the broadcast in almost its entirety!
The broadcast also includes appearances by folk singer Josh White and pianist Art Tatum who accompanies Lady on all of her songs during the broadcast. It originally aired on June 25, 1944 on WMCA.
