vraxxi - ‘딸’ (Daughter) for Orchestra and Band Ensemble
“딸” (Daughter), composed by vraxxi.
A piece written for orchestra and band ensemble based on the MIXXPOP genre, popularized by the K-Pop group NMIXX.
MIXXPOP is a hybridization of multiple genres horizontally. Genres included in the piece “딸” are Romantic Chamber Music, Contemporary R&B, DnB, Classical Crossover, Alt-pop, and Pop Rock. The 7 (seven) genres are chosen using the genre hybridity table method, developed by Jeremy Mayall.
“딸” is written specifically for live performance, without the use of metronome click and digital timbres that has designed in terms of time. The digital timbres (used in the MIXXPOP genre by NMIXX) then got converted into the many, wide variety timbres of orchestra and band ensemble instruments.
The word “딸” is used as the title because of the story behind the piece itself. “딸” is about a girl welcoming a new chapter of her life (thus a hand about to open a door is displayed in the backdrop) with excitement. It all crushed down when things happened to be not as what she expected. She can’t handle people’s eyes looking at her weirdly, just because of the differences she has. After a long time, the struggle to fit-in finally comes to an end when she decided not to be herself, in order to be accepted by the society.
