Writing this song was very interesting because I don't think we knew how significant it was in the moment.. it was actually a bit of a struggle in the beginning because it was the second write of the day on the last day of a 2 week writing trip in Nashville and everyone could feel it. It started out with a different title, I believe the genesis was Blame it on Dirt which was basically about all the ways that dirt shaped who I became as a person but it just wasn't landing right.. the ah ha moment came when the question was posed.. who would I have become without it? Where would any of us be without it? It's something we all take for granted but litterally everything we do and love comes from dirt. Once we had that the song came together and when we listened back on the flight home we knew we had something special.
