I also touch on how to arrange and layer instruments to make your beats more interesting. Studying songs is a great way to achieve the original boom bap style in your beats similar to what rap groups like The Wu Tang Clan might rap over. I think anyone from Method Man to Redman would bar up on this hard boom bap type beat instrumental.
Although this beat was created in Ableton Live 11 you can use the same methods and ideas in any DAW. Including Maschine, Akai MPC, Logic, Pro Tools, FL Studio and literally any other program you can think of. Hip Hop is Hip Hop no matter how it is created!
