sailors whipping and american whipping
a quick-ish semi-permanent way of stopping the end of a rope from unraveling. i thought of putting these two together as Ashley talks about both in his book. i have only come across this style of whipping in the ABOK, which is always a good read if you want to know more about this or many more knots..
