GEOFIT: Novel novel particle-based drill modelling by LTU
In this video you can see some of the numerical simulations that GEOFIT will introduce to make drilling a more cost-efficient drilling process.
Drilling is a key technology enabling heat exchangers installation and plays an important role in the building industry, both in sedimentary and rock drilling. Our novel particle-based finite element method for modelling the drilling and excavation process will assist operators in choosing optimum drilling parameters and tools to reduce wear. These simualtions will then be validated by comparing the outcome with the data from some of the pilots.
