The "fox and the grapes" is a popular story. The story goes as follows:
Once upon a time, a hungry fox was wandering around in search of some food.He searched high and low, but couldn’t find something that he could eat.
After a while, the fox came across a farmer's field.There he found a bunch of beautiful grapes hanging from a high branch.
They had a rich, purple color, telling the fox they were ready to be eaten.
To reach the grapes, the fox had to jump high in the air. As he jumped, he opened his mouth to catch the grapes, but he missed. The fox tried again but missed yet again.
Despite his repeated attempts, the fox couldn't seem to reach the grapes no matter how hard he tried.
Finally, the fox realized that he was not going to get them ,it was time to give up and go home. While he walked away, he muttered, “I’m sure the grapes were sour anyway.”
The moral of the story is that people often belittle what they cannot have, and criticize what they desire but cannot achieve. It teaches us the importance of not giving up easily and being persistent in our efforts to achieve our goals.
