Before the events of the Ramayana, the Rakshasas were kicked out of their ancestral kingdom in Lanka.
Ravana and his brothers, great princes of the Rakshasa race, decided to remedy this situation by beseeching the Lord Brahma for His divine assistance. Their prayers lasted for thousands upon thousands of years, and were so fervent that Lord Brahma finally deigned to listen to their plight. 🙏
Which was good news for the Rakshasas… but ended up being really, really bad news for everyone else! 🫢
