Screenwriting Lesson: WORLD BUIDLING - what is it and how to do it effectively
All stories have their own internal logic, and their own rules. We need to establish those rules early on so our viewer is not confused, and can follow along. We call that process WORLD BUILDING. It's particularly important in genres like science fiction and fantasy, but it's always helpful.
In this Video, I give you tips on how to world build effectively, without relying on boring exposition. I also talk about the opening for MEN IN BLACK, which is a masterclass in world building.
