I can happily say that I have no regrets that I chose a public community college. Had I not chosen Cerritos College, I would not have found the family I so love, the family that seeks to make a difference in our community. Not everyone is blessed to have such a supportive unit.

I've told my professors that I hadn't even considered the field of nursing until a friend shared a video about the healing power of music. And I had a lot of questions during these past two years. Questions about life, and if I really had a purpose. But now I'm sure of that purpose, because the RN Program has taught me how to be a genuine human being.

Nursing isn't about the pills or the charting, but being able to love people when they're at their weakest moments. No professor can teach us how to find dignity in giving someone a bed bath. No book can teach us how to cry with our patients. No class can teach us how to tell a family that their parents have died or are dying.

I believe that God used my clinical experience to build, equip, and empower me to be the servant that He's called me to be. And along with the intensity of the RN program, He taught me the failure of self-reliance, and the success of relying wholly on Him.

"I'm not sufficient in ability on my own, but my ability and sufficiency are from God." (2 Corinthians 3:5). I'm self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency.

When I recognize that "when I'm at my weakest, the more I depend on Him" (2 Corinthians 12:10), it's just then that "I am ready for anything through Christ who gives me inner strength" (Philippians 4:13).
