The Insubri were an ancient Celtic people settled in the historical region named after them. They were the founders of Mediolanum, and were the most important Celtic tribe of the Italian Peninsula. Due to the cultural and commercial exchanges with neighboring Transalpine Gaul, Etruria and Venetia, the Insubrians developed a more advanced and sophisticated society then their Celtic and Gaulish counterparts.
