Big Lots was a discount retailer that had encountered difficulties in the past several years. Despite a possible comeback, Big lots declared chapter 11 bankruptcy, and today I discuss why this remains my biggest mistake, what I have learned from it to (hopefully) not make this same mistake again, and the potential role of private equity in the demise of businesses like Big Lots.
