Bats are the main pollinators of the agave plant, although they are rarely praised for their important role in the production of this drink as we often only imagine small blood-sucking vampires hanging upside down ready to attack. These flying rodents and the agave plant have co-existed for millions of years, feeding on its flowers at night and at the same time dispersing its seeds which allows it to spread in the wild. So now you know, without bats there would be no agave plant and without the agave plant there would be no tequila. Thank you little bat that also eats bananas.
