Countermeasures for fault injection are becoming more advanced. To bypass some of these countermeasures, a security evaluator needs to be able to generate multiple laser pulses at different locations.
The Twin Scan is an optical system that alters the optical paths of the dual laser inputs so that the laser spots can be directed to an arbitrary point from a 2-D plane. A mirror system inside is responsible for the movement and it can offset the input laser beam along the X-axis or Y-axis direction.
