The already moderate summer of 2024* is now approaching its "most beautiful" and warmest peak, before returning to "normal." This "normal" simply refers to the changeable weather of the preceding months. It includes cooler periods followed by warmer or even hotter phases, but no stability. This marks the beginning of the transition from summer to winter; and we'll start the first drop in temperature on Tuesday/Wednesday – after the peak, mind you.

Then there's the persistent myth of a sweltering August. Yes, there will be some humidity – in the southwest. The northeastern half of the country will experience dry, clear, midsummer air until Monday/Tuesday. Only on Wednesday will the dew point rise briefly for ONE day (!!!) before the humidity disappears everywhere.

In terms of thunderstorms, Tuesday will likely be the more intense day, especially in the west...

(*Summer 2024 is, of course, statistically (much) too warm. But this warmth doesn't necessarily mean sunshine and dryness. The summer was unsettled and wet – just at a higher temperature level. Had it been cooler and sunnier, it certainly would have had a better reputation.)
