If your deck is too close to the ground, you might be in for a number of problems and challenges.
Decking – Bamboo, Composite and hardwood are all hygroscopic. This means that these materials will absorb moisture which becomes trapped underneath the Deck.
When the underside of the board gets higher moisture from rising damp and the top of the deck is dry and low moisture then the only thing that can happen is the boards will distort, twist and cup – Often Crowning occurs – same as internal floors.
Depending on the extent of the moisture issue, these outcomes are preventable and avoidable when dealt with in certain ways.
