What does an alligator sound like?
This is what Alligators sound like during mating season. It is called bellowing Both males and females do "bellow" and as you can see they make the sound on land as well as in the water.
Although primarily made during mating season they will from time to time make this sound throughout the year, especially if they hear a loud rumble (motorcycle, Garbage Truck, etc) in the distance.
The water "dancing" on the gators backs before you actually hear a sound is a call so low and deep the human ear can't hear it.
