রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর লিখেছিলেন, “বিস্ময় তাই জাগে”। কিছু কিছু মানুষ থাকেন, যাঁদের জীবন দেখে সত্যিই বিস্ময় জাগে আমাদের। মনোরঞ্জন ব্যাপারী সেরকমই একজন।
দেশভাগের পর এ-দেশে চলে আসা এক দলিত পরিবারে জন্মগ্রহণ করে চরম দারিদ্রের মধ্যে শৈশব ও কৈশোর কেটেছে তাঁর। এরপরই শুরু হয় তাঁর কঠিন life-এর challenge। পেটের জ্বালা সহ্য করতে না-পেরে দোকানে থালা-বাসন ধোয়ার কাজ করেছেন, পাঁউরুটি চুরি করেছেন। মিথ্যে কেস-এ জেলও খেটেছেন প্রায় দুবছর। কিন্তু এরপরেই অন্যদিকে মোড় নেয় তাঁর জীবন। রিকশাচালনার জীবনে এক অধ্যাপিকা সওয়ারী-র সাথে আলাপ হয় মনোরঞ্জন বাবুর। ততদিনে বই পড়ার প্রবল নেশা পেয়ে বসেছে তাঁকে। সেখান থেকেই ধীরে ধীরে শুরু লেখালেখির যা আজ প্রায় ৩৬ বছর ধরে করে চলেছেন মনোরঞ্জন ব্যাপারী। পেয়েছেন অসংখ্য পুরষ্কার ও স্বীকৃতি। জোশ Talks-এর মঞ্চে আপনাদের জন্য সেই বিস্ময় জাগানো Struggle-এর রূপকথা।

He was born in a poor Dalit family that came to India after partition and spent his childhood & adolescent in severe poverty. His empty stomach compelled him to steal bread from shops, to work as servant in little restaurants. He was even jailed for almost two years due to false allegation. But after that, Manoranjan’s life took a new turn. He met a female professor when he worked as a rickshaw-puller. By then, he had become a complete bookworm. From then on, Manoranjan started his writing that is being continued for over 36 years. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his works.
