Is 8GB Still Enough for Gaming in 2022?
Testing 5 popular games with both 8GB and 16GB of RAM, then testing Windows Page File performance on hard drives vs. SSDs.
Almost a year since I last asked this question, new games are getting more demanding, old games are getting less optimized, and I am learning how to get to the point more quickly. I've tested God of War, Elden Ring and Apex Legends, and re-tested COD Warzone and Cyberpunk 2077 to see if an 8GB dual channel kit is still sufficient, or if 16GB is a worthwhile upgrade. Also, as it is always a relevant tangent to this discussion, I've tested with the Windows Page File allocated to either the SSD or an HDD to see how much of an impact that has on performance.
