A Tragedy Strikes Bsharri and the Touk Family... The "Cedars" Road Wipes Out an Entire Family!
A new tragedy struck the northern town of Bsharri, which lost five of its sons in the blink of an eye. The town awoke this Friday to profound grief with the devastating loss of an entire family, the Touq family.
Joseph, the father, and Jocelyne, the mother, took their children on an outing, unaware that it would be their last.
Elias, Michel, and Majd, the three vibrant and full-bodied children, closed their eyes early.
This outing, meant for relaxation, came at a heavy price for the Touq family and the residents of Bsharri, who are still reeling from the shock. Tears welled in the eyes of men and women alike, a deep sorrow for the family's passing.
On the old Cedars Road, the car carrying Joseph Touk's family overturned and came to rest deep in the valley near the Qadisha Grotto.
In the valley, which was reached by Civil Defense teams assisted by Lebanese Army commandos and civilian personnel, the bodies of the family were scattered, having been ejected from the car during the rollover.
However, two or more bodies remained trapped inside the vehicle, held in place by the metal. Civil Defense personnel were only able to extract them after numerous attempts.
After the relevant security agencies completed the necessary legal procedures, the bodies were transported to Bcharre Governmental Hospital.
