This month I am demonstrating how to make coffee paper developer. In a previous video, I demonstrated how to make caffenol developer for film. This is a recipe I used for paper developing. I used a developer based on Arne Heeringa's recipe. / arneheeringa
I am going to have a solo exhibition at Big Day Film Collective in Philadelphia, USA in September. The exhibition will comprise of my "Ancient Light" series of photographs printed using caffenol paper developer. I will not physically attend the exhibition but my work will visit!
Here are my two recipes:
Caffenol C Printing for sepia tones. Best for contact printing and in-camera (pinhole).
(Photograms, using digital transparency)
• 27g soda crystals.
• 18g vitamin C.
• 17g coffee.
• 1g salt.
• water to make 1000ml of solution
• standard fixer / salt water solution (350g salt to 1 litre of water, immersed for 24 hours)
Caffenol C Printing for darker tones. The recipe demonstrated above.
Best for printing with enlarged negative.
• 75g soda crystals.
• 25g vitamin C.
• 75g coffee.
• 25g salt.
• water to make 1000ml of solution
• standard fixer / salt water (350g salt to 1 litre of water, immersed for 24 hours)
