[Transcript of speech below, but first, a note that Juliet researched all the many speeches on YouTube of people giving student election speeches - just like you are likely doing. She took the format, gimmicks, and style of some of her favorites and used them as a template for her speech - especially Nick Yap's three point structure. Then she wrote about herself using what she gleaned from other speeches. She's sharing in case it helps you as you write your speech.] Transcript below:

"There are some wonderful candidates running this year ... But, I know that there are ALOT of us, so I'll keep this short...[scroll]
Hello my fellow Americans,
My name is Juliet Johnson and I'm running for President.
My job today is to answer the question, "What is it about this Juliet girl that makes her qualified to lead us into our 8th Grade year?"
I've got three great reasons.

First, I'm persistent. When I set out to do something, I give it my all. For example:
At every school dance, there comes a time when it gets a bit hot. People start to clear the gym.
How many of you have been to a school dance?
Okay, then most of you know what I'm talking about.
...The dance floor gets a little empty, but there's always that one kid who stays on the dance floor while the rest of us lean against the wall. Well, you know what, I'm that kid on the dance floor! And do you know why? Because I always feel like dancing! even in Mr. Lee's math class, and yes, even when it gets hot and sweaty and all they're playing is Justin Beiber at the school dance ... I still dance no matter what. Because I always put all of my energy into whatever I do, no matter how tiring, or how long it takes. If you elect me as your President, I'll make sure everything I do makes you feel like dancing. I will not let you down!

The second reason you should vote for me is that I'm a compassionate leader.
Some of you may have seen in the school newsletter that I once gave CPR to my chicken ... god rest her soul. If I found you passed out in 100 degree weather and your feathers were wilted, you best be sure I'd totally give you mouth to beak resuscitation. But that's not likely to happen.
What is likely to happen is that you'll be finishing your lunch on a hot day, and I'm the kind of president who will ask if I can take your trash to the garbage can for you. I'm the kind of president who will sort the recycle and the waste. I'm the kind of leader who will change the toilet paper in the bathroom when it runs out ... AND I'll make sure that the paper feeds OVER the top of the roll, not under, so it's easier to tear off. I'm the kind of President who will put air fresheners in the locker room. Sutter Middle School, I got your back. I am here for YOU!

And the last reason you all should vote for me is that I always finish what I start.
For example, when I'm playing my favorite Minecraft mod and it's time to battle Herobrine, you best believe I'll destroy that Ender Dragon and Ender Steve like a boss! And I'm not afraid of HeroBrine's 500 health and diamond sword enchanted with knockback. I will take my Emerald Sword and battle through creepers, earthquakes, and scary clouds. I will stay on that mountain and I will teleport to the Overworld when my glittery sword falls from the sky!
I ALWAYS FINISH WHAT I START!
Now, I'm sure there are some of you out there saying to yourselves, "Self, I'm afraid to vote for Juliet. ... She's got some strange posters up around school -- I mean, they're pretty funny, but a little bit weird."
Let me tell you my friends, WEIRD IS GOOD.
You WANT weird from your president.
Weird is what made Albert Einstein a genius.
Weird is what makes that nasty zombie make-up so awesome on the Walking Dead.
Weird is where amazing ideas come from.

You may not know me yet, and I may not be the most popular student at Sutter Middle School, but just keep in mind an inspirational quote you all know and love ... "Do work!!!"
(that's a quote a teacher at their school always says and EVERYONE says it at their school)
Vote Juliet Johnson for President!"
