For the longest time Namco System 23 emulation did NOT work in MAME; Namco System 11 and Namco System 12 did as well as some of the other System 2X boards like Gorgon...but poor System 23 was mostly left out of all the fun...until now...because this banger of an arcade board is heading to MAME :) retro gaming win! Go Play Time Crisis II today! because MAME .271 is here
and now MAME updates give us Crisis Zone, Motocross Go and Rapid River as well as improvements to the Time Crisis 2 MAME version! Love it...MAME updates time!
If you know me or the channel you know I am a huge proponent of both video game history and video game preservation...so when an arcade board that uses custom 3D hardware vs just a console in a box or a PC gaming experience in a box...I want everyone to be able to play them! And lucky for retrogaming enthusiasts Time Crisis 2 is now working in MAME thanks to the hard work of some developers!
It definitely still has a few emulation bugs to work out on the visual side but I dont mind as I LOVE the System 23 version of Time Crisis II in arcades vs the PS2 version we got which basically did an entire graphical overhaul and remaster of the arcade PCB as that ran on custom Namco designed 3D accelerator hardware. Sure its not as powerful as PlayStation 2 but I think it looks much better with a bit of jank!
Get the new version of MAME off the official MAME website and you will be playing these too!
