Regular Cicadas vs The Giant Cicada
My first time hearing a giant cicada! I didn't know what it was when I made this video. It has a higher pitch whistle than the regular cicadas I'm used to. I'm from the Gulf Coast, and we call those Hot Bugs, lol.
I'm in the San Antonio area now and have found out that the northernmost range of the giant cicada is in a narrow wedge through south central Texas up to Austin. This is the only place you can hear a giant cicada in the United States!
I feel so lucky to get to hear this sound!
