Army Specialist are Becoming Corporals
The Army is finally recognizing soldiers who have completed their NCO schools by promoting them to Corporal, even if they haven't made it to the Sergeant board yet. This change means the Army is now using the rank of Corporal as it was originally intended – as the first step in becoming a Noncommissioned Officer (NCO). For a long time, the Army was sparing in awarding this rank, unlike the Marines, where becoming an E4 automatically makes you an NCO.
