A Historic Military Exchange Between Iran And Russia | Who Gets What?
Polit Affairs - previously enemies and currently strategic partners, Iran and Russia Have become so close, That US is getting afraid, warning that this friendship might pose a serious threat to the western liberal world.
How ever I just don't get it. it's just as clear as daylight. if you put too much economic, political and social pressure on two neighboring states, which btw have many mutual interests in their region, they'll eventually get close.
US has done it, and now complains about their friendship! what? are they really naive?
As you already know, Iranian drones have been used by Russia in the Ukraine war, and they have been effective enough to catch attention of every one.
So we have again discussed before, the main advantage this close relation with Iran, has for Kremlin, is not military cooperation and weapons deals, but it's Tehran's somehow supernatural potentials to bypass Western sanction and survive the so called maximum pressure for more than 4 decades.
I'm not going to praise sanctions and Tehran's policy, because well I have seen results of economic pressure on my own life, but in the end of the day, these sanctions did not bring Iran to it's knees, but instead, forced them to go after making so many things on their own and now, even trade them with Russia to get what they have been dreaming for.
So Iran is now the only power on earth to stand with Russia, despite all disadvantages it could have for them. more than all claimed friends Russia has, such as China and India. in this image I just described for you, Russia should be thankful and give Iran really big awards in return, well Tehran is not naive in the end and does not forget how Russia stood with the west in last decades, so it wants considerable privileges.
Here are four ways to satisfy Tehran:
one: The first method is already in action. trade volume between Iran and Russia is rising with an unbelievable pace. Russia has a giant economy reaching almost 2 trillion US dollars in 2021. now big economies except for China and India are deprived of working with Russia. actually they have deprived it themselves. so for Iran which has a much smaller economy, this is a really big chance to start its economic engines after a long time.
two: based on unofficial and even some official reports, Iran has been trying to purchase Russian Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets which could be a revolution in Iran's armed forces and change power balance in the middle east with regard to Israel.
Three: American news agencies wrote last week that Iran has received cash in return for Drones, but that's not all of it. based on a claim, Russia took hold of a shipment of western weapons destined for Ukraine. in the shipment, there was three different anti tank and anti aircraft missiles including Javelins and Nlaws. though I don't think it's true. because Iran has its own anti tank and aircraft weapons similar to those western guns. These western weapons might have higher technologies, though Iran has its own, and does not need to get them in return for drones. Russia could have supplied them to Iran as a bonus. a cherry on the cake!
four: Based on CNN, Iran is seeking Russia's help to bolster its nuclear program, US intelligence officials believe, as Tehran looks for a backup plan should a lasting nuclear deal with world powers fail to materialize.
Five: The newly introduced Iranian Hypersonic missiles. We have not still seen any footage of the missile, though based on a speech by an Iranian general, despite initial reports that this is a ballistic missile, it is actually an aero-ballistic air-to-surface missile, very much like the Russian Kinzhal which was unveiled in 2019.
So there is a tiny possibility that Russia might have shared technology of making such a missile with Iran. this is a vital weapon for Iran, as there is no anti missile system in the world, capable of hunting such a missile. Iran has said that it has developed it based on domestic knowledge, so I'm just saying, it might have Russian roots.
Now, Iran might have received any of those, or maybe a package made of some of those weapons and helps from Russia in return for the Drones and economic guidance. in any case, Iran is the winner in this situation. the more Russia gets away from the west, the more Iran sees unprecedent chances of cooperation with Moscow.
