The Princess of Wales is heading overseas for her first solo working trip since her cancer treatment ✈️ If that’s not enough of a milestone, this trip might actually matter MORE than how it is currently being discussed.
Next week, on May 13–14, Kate Middleton will be in Reggio Emilia for a working visit focused on early childhood education, specifically the city’s globally recognized, play-based learning philosophy.
This marks her first international trip since before her cancer diagnosis and treatment, and only her second-ever solo overnight visit as a senior royal.
The trip will be focused on early childhood education, which has been the central pillar of Kate’s royal work for years.
There hasn’t been much to highlight since 2023, though, since Catherine’s cancer treatment and gradual return to public life have seen a deliberate readjustment of priorities. So this trip, in my view, could be the clearest sign of Kate’s “return to normal” that we’ve gotten since 👀
Because a few years ago, the conversation around Kate wasn’t just about her style or appearances or milestone moments. It was about her public platform building real momentum.
Her Early Years work was slowly gaining structure, her role in the monarchy was becoming more defined, and she was carving out a lane that felt distinctly “hers” within the royal family.
Then everything paused.
I’m looking today at whether this Italy trip will pick up that trajectory… or usher in something entirely different.
