Themes, templates, and slide masters. Let's investigate.
When you have a new presentation, you can customize any element of that presentation. You can change the colors of backgrounds, fonts, text effects, or any of those things on any slide and anywhere in your presentation. However, we want to avoid having a mishmash of styling within our presentation, just like in Word and Excel.
We want things to. Consistent. And so we want to customize the way that our presentations look and keep them consistent with our business brand. The slide master helps us to do that. A slide master is a collection of layouts. So when you start a presentation and you click to create a new slide, usually you start with a title slide, then you would follow with a content slide, then you might have a picture slide.
Each of those is a different layout, and each of those layouts [00:01:00] will have its own master. , we can add extra layouts. If the standard ones don't do the job you want or they don't look how you want, we can customize a layout and make it do exactly what you want. We can also customize the color scheme and also the fonts, so there's lots of things we can do.
We can then save that slide master for use again and. And that's what a theme is. It's basically our saved slide master, which has the collection of colors, fonts, and effects that we've chosen, and we can apply that theme to any presentation. And I'm gonna show you that in just a minute. A template, however, is kind of all of these things together.
So you would have your customized slide master in there with your proper theme and any standard text or slides as well. And then when you start, you've already got all the elements that you need at your fingertips. So [00:02:00] let's take a look by jumping right into PowerPoint and we're gonna look at a simple presentation and how it changes when we change the different.
