How to clean and maintain Teak
Teak is a hardwood obtained from the same name tree of tropical origin. The Teak wood slats we use for our
products are of Indonesian origin and of the A-grade category (with FSC certification), probably the best for this
kind of material. Teak wood products that fall into this “class” are usually offered without superficial treatments (i.e.
natural), and do not require maintenance.
When the product is new, stains may appear on its surface, due to the natural oil released by Teak wood. Over time,
untreated Teak will naturally develop the typical silvery colour that characterizes this type of wood and may undergo
small structural adjustments: these changes have no influence whatsoever on its resistance. Even the formation
of small cracks, especially in products particularly exposed to atmospheric agents, does not affect the quality and
durability of Teak wood.
Maintenance and cleaning

For the standard cleaning of Teak wood, use a specific detergent for outdoor wooden furniture or a brush with
soft bristles and water. To avoid the natural surface oxidation of the new product, apply ICADECK water oil at
regular intervals.
To remove the natural grey patina due to oxidation and restore the teak original colour, use the
CLEANDECK anti-grey detergent, then wash the surface and apply ICADECK oil once dry.
To eliminate surface
scratches, use light grain sandpaper or a hand sander.

Do not use a pressure washer for cleaning as it may damage the slats surface and wood fibres.
