In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through the entire process of creating a realistic car explosion in Unreal Engine 5. We’ll begin by searching for a 3D car model from popular websites like Sketchfab, CGTrader, or TurboSquid, and importing the mesh and textures into Unreal Engine. I’ll show you how to create a material from the imported textures and apply it to the car model. Next, we’ll download an HDRI background to enhance the scene.
Then, I’ll guide you through using fracture mode to split the car into different pieces, followed by adding and adjusting explosion control elements from the engine’s built-in features. After simulating the explosion, we’ll use Chaos Cache Manager to record the result and animate it in Sequencer. To finish off, we’ll download fire and explosion effects from the Epic Launcher to complete the realistic car explosion in Unreal Engine 5.
