This is the recording for the first Development Studies Alumni Lecture, featuring Paolo De Renzio, from the MSc Development Studies Class of 1996-97.

Paolo speaks a bit about his own journey after completing the MSc Development Studies and then about his recently published book, A Taxing Journey.

This book examines how civic organizations can influence tax policy and administration in ways that benefit ordinary citizens, through in-depth case studies from a wide range of countries including France, Guatemala, Kenya, Mexico, Philippines, Uganda, and the United States. Paolo is a public finance practitioner and scholar based in Rio de Janeiro. He has worked in Papua New Guinea, UNDP and elsewhere.

The talk took place on Monday 26 February, 5:00-6:30pm and was held in Clement House on the Aldwych, Room CLM 2.02.
