Roo Panes - Mistral
Hey guys. This is a new one for you. His name is Andrew “Roo” Panes. He comes from Wimborne, Dorset, England. He is a singer songwriter that plays a 12 string guitar.
After falling into a river as a child, he received the nickname 'Roo' in homage to a Winnie-the-Pooh character who met a similar fate while playing a game called pooh sticks. He credits his grandmother, a classical pianist, and other family members with inspiring him to pursue music. Before playing acoustic guitar and writing songs, he briefly studied the trumpet and electric guitar. Other members of his family are similarly talented; his twin, Deborah, is a professional photographer, while sister Lucy provides artwork for his EPs.
His introspective lyrics and haunting melodies are reminiscent of a marriage between the acoustic side of Led Zeppelin and Nick Drake. Very cool sound!
