Photoshop pen tool
The Photoshop pen tool is used to make paths. It is very useful, although learning to use it is sometimes complicated.
The Photoshop pen tool allows us to draw paths in a detailed way and with full possibilities, doing both straight and curved. In addition, the pen has the peculiarity that allows us to alter a path once made or, if we make a mistake, go backwards with the edit-undo command.
The downside of the pen tool, at first, is almost always a little hard to learn to handle and sometimes it does things that we do not expect or do not control. However, it is a very useful tool to do various things with Photoshop, not only complex paths or silhouettes, but also advanced selections.
Below the pen tool there are several other complementary tools that we probably need to use at certain times to perform some actions with the tracings or forms.
To start operating with the Photoshop pen tool we can select it and click on any part of the image. With this we will place a first point of the path. Then we can click on any other part of the image and place a second point, creating a path that goes from the first to the second point placed (these are called anchor points). We can continue putting anchor points and the route will be drawn, based on lines, between the different anchor points that we have been putting. It is worth experimenting a bit with the tool at this point to see its behavior.
