Neat Magnetic Sculpture
What do you call this? Some kind of oscillator? Reminds me of a Newton's Cradle, but different. ...I'm just going with "Neat Magnetic Sculpture" :-)
The hanging pendulums have magnets, and moving one will cause the others to "stick" to it and follow in a sinuous wave. They are not connected through the top--the pendulums are mounted on ball bearings and swing freely. I recall that they're aluminum, which is pretty light and non-magnetic, and that the magnets seemed pretty powerful.
If you know who build this, or other details, please share. Yeah, the sculpture has a little plaque--wish I'd noted the info. Don't remember where I saw this :-( The sculptor deserves accolades!
