Configuration Deviation List (CDL) Explained - Can You Dispatch With a Missing Pannel?
In today's video, we are going to talk about the CONFIGURATION DEVIATION LIST (CDL).
By the end of this training content, you will know what the CDL is, when do you need to use the Configuration Deviation List and what is the difference between the CDL and the Minimum Equipment List (MEL).
In the CDL is a manual, that could be integrated into the MEL and Airplane Flight Manual that contains the list of the Secondary Airframe Structure Items and Engine Parts that can be missing before dispatching.
If you discover, during the walk around, that some Landing Panel, for example, is missing you should check the Configuration Deviation List to see if you can dispatch with that missing Item.
Inside the CDL you find the information regarding how many of that specific Item you need for dispatching and any performance penality you might have if dispatching with that CDL item.
The Minimum Equipment List (MEL), on the other end, is applicable to the systems and equipment that are inoperative.
So, for example, if you have an imperative Autobrake you want to check the MEL and, if you are missing a static discharge or an Antenna you want to check the CDL.
