Tilman Holze died of a fentanyl overdose in 2017. He was severely addicted to drugs for eight years. He spent all his money on drugs, taking anything he could get, always looking for the next kick.
Pastor Vanessa visits the Holze family and wants to know how they are dealing with Tilman's story today.
In the summer of 2016, Tilman sought help from his family. He began substitution therapy and then successfully completed detoxification. But when he couldn't find further treatment options, he turned to drugs again. He overdosed, and after three days in the intensive care unit, he died from the consequences.
His parents, Christiane and Erhard, as well as his brothers, Titus and Tobias, want to spare other sufferers his journey and have founded a foundation. They are dedicated to prevention work and are contacts for addicts and their families. Above all, they value comprehensive therapeutic care. Tilman didn't have that, and it may have cost him his life.
Together, they visit schools and tell Tilman's brutally honest story. This way, they might be able to warn potential first-time users. Brother Titus doesn't mince words and explains how drugs destroy people, families, and friendships.
Vanessa and the Holzes reflect on the past, talk about Tilman and their pain, and yet look optimistically towards the future. Even though Tilman's fight is lost, he still helps protect others from his fate.
