When light strikes matter there is a 1 in 100.000.000 chance that it will scatter inelastically, losing energy to the molecule. This is called the Raman effect. In this video, our Raman expert Di Yan will explain the basics behind the phenomena and will answer the question: “What is the Raman shift”?

Missed our last episode? Each week, we’ll explain the fundamentals of Raman spectroscopy step by step in a fun, clear and easy way.
