GH6 vs GH5 Low Light Performace // Dynamic Range Boost Comparison
Short low light comparison between the recently released Lumix #GH6 and its predecessor #GH5.
This is no scientific comparison, just a simple one to show the difference in ISO increments with and without the new "dynamic range boost" inlcuding showing the improvements made compared to the "old" GH5.
Technical aspects:
-Lens: Lumix 42.5 f1.7
-10bit 4:2:2
-4K 30p VLOG (GH6) / VLOG-L (GH5)
-No Grading, just the Rec.709 Lut Applied
-180° Shutter Angle
-Auto-WB
My personal conclusion:
You can clearly see an improvement compared to the GH5 when you look at the street light bloom and the color shifts. The noise pattern is also greatly improved. The color of the GH6 stays mostly the same when you increase the ISO.
The GH6 is still no "extreme" low light camera, but with a little NR you can easily get away with most shots in low light scenarios.
